Funded entirely by our biggest supporters - City law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer - this new minibus will support our student's learning and enjoyement outside of the school.
Freshfields partners and staff raised the entire purchase price of the minibus with a number of fundraising activities, including "the shirt of hurt" in which Freshfield partner Sean Pierce, who is a fanatical Manchester United Supporter, accepted sponsorship in return for wearing a Manchester City shirt for the day!
"We desperately needed a new wheelchair equipped minibus to allow all of our students to participate in educational visits outside of the school", said Head Teacher Lynda Walker. "All of our staff and pupils are immensely grateful to Freshfields and Hearts of Oak for providing this wonderful minibus."
The minibus is being used almost daily, from small trips to local amenities to longer residential trips; it has had a huge impact on the daily lives of all at Oak Lodge.
